
Personal Support
Personal Support is assisting the client to perform their Activities of Daily Living, ambulate or transfer in and out of bed. Personal Support Workers (PSW) at DHS respect the choices of the client and promotes independence. Personal Support Workers work with clients in their homes as well as provide private care to clients in retirement homes, nursing homes and hospitals. DHS also escorts clients from their home or facility to medical tests, surgeries or social outings. A Personal Support Worker may work from as little as one hour up to 24 hours per day based on the needs of the patient. They can provide minimal assistance up to total care. At DHS qualified PSW's have a certificate as a PSW and have job specific training.
